Just got done watching this episode again. I’m proud to say I don’t sob for two hours after it’s over like I did during the origional airing. But good lord, as soon as those elevator doors open and you see him in his army unifrom, I feel as if someone just stepped on my heart and I feel like bursting into tears and throwing up all at the same time. I still tear up. And when Meredith realizes it’s him [O…O…seven? Double…oh…seven…] and gasps and then is running through the halls screaming, “IT’S GEORGE! IT’S GEORGE! JOHN DOE IS GEORGE!” It’s all of maybe a minute, probably less, and yet I truly believe it was the best acting ever done on the show.
It gives me chills every single time. Here’s to you, George O’Malley.
You really were the good one. Hell, forget that. You were the best one.
