It’s crazy how fast time passes by. One minute you’re entering your pre-school classroom for the first time, and then all of a sudden it’s your eighteenth birthday.
In the words of Ferris Beuler, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
January 28th, 2011 was my un-official birthday at school. We had a joint birthday party for me and Toni (whose birthday was actually the 28th) in yearbook, and ate a bunch of crap that is not typically consumed at eight in the morning. We indulged, like always, with smiles on our faces. If we had to be up this early, why not start the morning off right? Brittany also brought me a giant cupcake which made me grin.
Second period we acted out our scenes from Hamlet, and for my group Hamlet just happened to be wearing a tiara because I refused to take mine off. My chorus class sang to me third period, and Marly and Cassie brought me in balloons, Bath and Body Works presents, cards, and a giant batch of cupcakes put together in the shape of a crown. It was the size of a sheet cake, my friends and I destroyed it at lunch.
I was called down to the office during third period as well, only to find that my wonderful parents had arranged for flowers and balloons to be delivered. I was shocked, because I had mentioned it in passing a while back to my mother but never in the world did I actually imagine that she would do it.
I put all of my other gifts in the office for the rest of the day so I wouldn’t have to carry them. We played games in Psychology during fourth period, like on iCarly where Freddy and Spencer have cards on their foreheads and are trying to guess what their card says. Major fun. In fifth period we colored, and in sixth we had seminar which I always enjoy. I had to have my brother help me carry everything out to the car at the end of the day because I couldn’t do it all myself, hah.
Saturday, yesterday the 29th, was my actual birthday. We ordered pizza and made tator tots and had ice cream cake. I love being able to pick the menu :)
All in all, it was a spectacular birthday. I feel very lucky to have such wonderful, amazing, caring people in my life that love me so much. And I love them back.
It’s crazy how fast time flys. I’m an adult now, and it has not been an easy ride. But even after the hell and heartbreak and the fighting and pain… you realize at the end of the day that you’re still alive and you’re still breathing and still fighting. You’re still living it all day by day, taking things as they come. And that, in itself, is the greatest gift of all. <3
So, I made this and I think it defines Nathan and Haley’s story perfectly. As Mark Schwahn said in the Season 4 time capsule, “Well, Nathan and Haley is the oldest story in the world: the bad boy changes his behavior for the love of a good woman…” I don’t think that could be truer. <3 [Always and Forever]
